Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
The close mechanism needs to wait for the close packet to be sent to the other side before declaring the connection officially closed. As it is now, the local closure happens in parallel to the sending of the close packet, so depending on the time of these two parallel actions sometimes the local connection is closed before the close packet is sent.
